DROPDOWNS, CARRYOVERS INTO SUPERSEMISTATES, 1978-1997

CLASS 2A/1A

X = number of instances of a single dropdown into a Class Supersemistate. C = number of instances of a single carryover into a Class Supersemistate. In either of these scenarios, a single Class Supersemistate is required: the dropdown or carryover vs. the winner of that Class Semistate, winner to Class State Finals.

XX = two dropdowns. CC = two carryovers. CX = one carryover and one dropdown. In any one of these three scenarios, two Class Supersemistate games are required: one team vs. the winner of that Class Semistate, the other team against the winner of the opposite Class Semistate, both winners to the Class State Finals.

XXC = two dropdowns, one carryover. In this very rare scenario, there are three Class Supersemistate games -- one on Tuesday and two on Thursday, with the two surviving teams advancing to the Class State Finals. The Tuesday game matches the carryover team against the lower seeded dropdown; on Thursday, the Tuesday winner plays the winner of that Class Semistate and the higher seeded dropdown plays the winner of the opposite Class Semistate.

N = The instance occurred in the North Class Semistate. S = The instance occurred in the South Class Semistate.

Class 2A in red; Class 1A in blue.
